What’s a Filynora?

Some of you might be wondering just what a Filynora is. Well, first of all, Filynora is a person. A very interesting person who I’m still figuring out. She’s got a mean streak and a temper, but can also be kind and compassionate. She might not be ‘real’ in the sense that you and I are, but she’s real to me. Since you don’t know yet, Filynora is the main character in the trilogy I’m writing. They’re Christian fantasy novels that focus on telling the story of Christ in a new, interesting way, and maybe to people who wouldn’t pick up books like this otherwise.

I’m finding that developing Filynora’s character is fun and interesting. Even I don’t know what she’s going to do sometimes, but you probably want to know a little more about the story before I get into her character. The plot summary is like this:

Filynora lived a simple life, caring for the Elementals—animals that have some control over various elements— she called friends and the farm that she called home. But everything changes when her mother disappears and she is thrust into a world she had never known existed. A world with strange new dark creatures that seem bent on taking her to the Dark Ones, the mysterious beings who rule over the Human race and are never seen.

As her life falls apart around her, something new happens. A strange man who she feels as if she should know starts coming to her in visions, and she hears a story of a Creator, an all-knowing, all-powerful being known as God. With such a revelation comes a mission that will change her life, and the lives of those she meets.

Any thoughts on this idea? I’m already well into it, but I’d love to know your opinions. 🙂
